Who is Mindful Boston?
Mindful Boston is a community of people who are interested in becoming skillful in meditation practices. We provide meditation classes live and in-person to the Greater Boston area and beyond as we continue to grow.
Our organizational structure is similar to a martial arts studio or a small adult-ed art school. New students attend our classes, and over time, if they get more deeply involved, they follow the training pathway towards becoming senior students. Senior students then are coached in how to teach the newer folks during our free Community Meditation Night classes.
Our core program is the MBSR intensive course (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) that was developed at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
In addition, we have beginner-level courses. And we have a training pathway for those who want to eventually teach meditation.
We emphasize meditation formats that have been scientifically studied in medical institutions.
We welcome people of all backgrounds and all beliefs, including non-belief.
Mindful Boston works to make mindfulness and other forms of meditation more available and more accessible to anyone who would benefit from regular meditation practice. Our mission is: teaching sensible tools for navigating life's stress.
In a media-frenzied world, the word "mindful" has been bandied about. There can be a lot of confusion and conflicting information. In the hopes of being clear, this is the breakdown of our name:
Mindful--> "Present, aware, conscious, caring, ethical"
Boston---> A city that is known for taking no bullsh:t"
We really are here for teaching sensible tools for navigating life's stress.
What we are not:
We are not here to sell you what can't be attained. We are not here to indoctrinate you into any system of thought. We are not here to give you a quick fix.
We have both in-person and on-line options for practicing meditation tools. Our offerings are for a wide range of practitioners, from beginner through professional.
